Ever since debuting at the 2012 edition of the L-Għanja tal-Poplu festival, where they won the WAFA award for Best New Talent, local duo Mistura has been steadily gaining ground within the local scene. Describing themselves as a duo that writes and sings songs in Maltese that doesn't insult the listener's intelligence, Mistura's music is influenced by blues and rock, but retains a certain degree of je ne sais quoi thanks to which they have stood out, for better or worse, among their peers.
Further to recording several songs and releasing a limited edition promo CD Mistura, namely guitarists Antonio Olivari and Malcolm Bonnici, now has an official website, www.misturamalta.com, which conveniently brings together not only information about the duo but also news updates, gig listings, music videos, photos, testimonials and naturally a direct link to its Facebook page.
Before setting up Mistura, Olivari and Bonnici had previously collaborated in many other projects and bands, among them Akustika, Strummin’ and Symphonik. More recently they have also performed at Għanafest, Notte Bianca and PoeżijaPlus. The duo is currently putting the final touches to their first album, to be released at the end of summer.
