Saturday, May 30, 2015, will mark the launch of Electronic Music Malta (EMM), a new voluntary organization at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Valletta. The primary aim of this new organization is to bring together musicians, visual artists, engineers, innovators, DJs and anyone interested in exploring and learning more about Electronic Music.
The launch event will feature a concert/workshop during which local electronic artists Duo Blank, Owen Jay and Monolith will be collaborating with visual artist Toni Gialanze to give a performance that will blend electronic music with interactive graphical animations. The performers will also be answering questions and discussing aspects such as the evolution of electronic music, music production, the challenges of setting up and managing a record label, the production and preparation of interactive graphical animations synchronized with music and many other aspects related to the common factors linking music and technology.
The event, which starts at 6pm, is open to the general public and entrance is free on a first-come first-served basis since space is limited. Those attending will have the opportunity to learn more about this new organization and its aspirations, meet local artists from the electronic scene and even put forward their own comments and suggestions in line with the organization’s inclusive policy.
A limited selection of locally-produced releases on CD and vinyl will also be on sale.
